In Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State last Friday January
30, the people of the Southern Kaduna promised 100% votes to the All
Progressive Congress, candidate for February presidential election,
General Muhammad Buhari and the party’s flag bearer for governrship
election in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
Though the election is said to be rigged, the Peoples Democratic Party under late Governor Patrick Yakowa got its victory in 2011 general election
due to the enomous votes it got from Southern Kaduna. This was because
late Mr. Yakowa, is their son and they struggled to full their yearnings of producing a governor from their area even though Yakowa contested as an incumbent governor due to his elavation to the state most coverted position when his boss, the then Governor Namadi Sambo was nominated for the exalted position of the nation’s number two job after the demise of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and the swearing in of the incumbent occupant of Aso Rock, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the substantive president. Yakowa therefore made history by becoming the first Southern Kaduna citizen to become civilian governor in the state. He however ended up tragically in an air crash in Bayelsa State.
Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who commenced his campaign in Southern Kaduna on
Friday, January 30 was welcomed by mamoth crowd in Kachia Local
Government Area of the state.
Prior to the movement of his campaign team to Southern Kaduna, they
had visited almost all the LGs in Kaduna Zone 1 and Zone 2 except
Kaduna North and Kaduna South LGs. They were expected visit the two
local government areas on Friday and Saturday but decided to shift the
campaign to southern zone to avoid clash with PDP supporters due to
the scheduled visit of President Jonathan.
The campaign in zone 1 came to a conclusion on Monday January 26 at
Kofan Dokan in Zaria city where thousands of people gathered to cheer
up APC for the next general election.

The campaign trail of El-Rufai moved to Kaduna zone 2 the following
day with several PDP supporters announcing their defection to APC. It
is difficult to see El-Rufai going to any local government with his
campaign team without seing good number of PDP supporters dumping
In Giwa LG in Zone 2 about 500 PDP supporters defected to APC. Over
460 had earlier defected to the party in Makarfi LG, the home town of
Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a former governor of the state.

Among the prominent people who formally made their defection known to
their kinsmen in Birnin Gwari were the former Commissioner for
Information, Saidu Adamu, Hon. Adamu Shekarau who is contesting the
House of Representatives election. He has also served as Commissioner

In a dramatic style, the decampees did not only make their names known
to the general public but also submitted their PDP membership cards to
APC governorship candidate, Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Rufai reiterated his commitment to good governance if elected. He
said his administration will not shy away from its responsibilities in
education, security, rural & urban development among others.
El-Rufai’s campaign train moved from Kajuru Local Government Area to
Chukun LG where they visited several towns inlcluding Narayi, Sabo,
El-Rufai who addressed large crowd at Gonin Gora dismissed the
allegation by some quarters that he is going demolished Gonin Gora if
elected as governor. He specifically promised the people of the area
good roads, hospital, electricity, water supply etc.

In Kachia in Southern Kaduna where APC was promised 100 % votes about 2650 PDP supporters dumped PDP for APC . Hon. Jagaba Adams representing Kachia, Kagurko in the House of Representatives is one of those who dumped PDP to APC.
He is the House Committee Chairman on Drugs & Narcotics and Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Adams said the era of PDP has
come to an end.
Also speaking is Dr. Ishaku Shekarau, the party flag bearer for Southern Kaduna Senatorial zone who gave assurance that the zone will give 100 percent vote to APC from top to down. He said the era of PDP misrule has come to an end.
The running mate to Malam El-Rufai, Arc. Banabas Bala Bantex promised his people that the APC government will not let them down. He said very soon the ugly story of Southern Kaduna will change as the APC government will bring about unprecedented development to Zone.
