DESERT HERALD Commences 24/7 Active Online Newspaper, Redesigns Website, Appoints Acting Online Editor

The Management of DESERT HERALD Newspaper and Magazine has approved the appointment of Mr. James Obute as its Acting Online Editor.

A letter signed by Mal. Tukur Mamu, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of DESERT HERALD, said the appointment of Obute as an Acting Online Editor was informed by the decision of the management of the media organization to commence 24/7 active Online Newspaper using the official website ( which was recently redesigned and upgraded to the international standard as media platform.
The publisher in a press release he personally signed said Obute’s appointment takes immediate effect.

Mamu said the target of the organisation is to provide alternative platform for online readers through credible and authoritative report and that under his watch will in the next one year compete with any online medium in Nigeria. He said the commencement of DH’s active online newspaper will not in any way affect its print publication and that it is geared towards making DESERT HERALD the favourite within and outside Nigeria.

Mamu said Mr Obute will continue to serve in acting capacity and that he was given a specific target to achieve before the management of the newspaper will confirm him as substantive editor of the online newspaper.

He assured readers that under Obute and other competent members of the staff DH that were recently recruited to work with him, online readers of DESERT HERALD across the world will continue to enjoy first class service that is second to none. Mamu has also called on advertisers to patronize DESERT HERALD online for cheap and wider coverage of advertising their goods and services.

Until his appointment, Obute James was a News Editor (Abuja Bureau) with DESERT HERALD Newspaper and has served with the company for eight years.
