Family of late DIG Haruna call for probe of his Death
April 1, 2012 // 0 CommentsThe Late Deputy Inspector General of Police Haruna John has been laid to rest in Taraba State on Saturday with his family members calling on the federal Government to order a full investigation into the cause of his death and immortalized him.
Speaking at the interment, the brother of the late DIG, Ambassador Musa John who is an ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago said the families of the late officer have been thrown into confusion with his mother dead, two sisters hospitalized and his father at the throes of death.
Ambassador Musa John pointed out that the circumstances that led to the untimely death of DIG Haruna John is at best suspicious as media reports said the government knew of the faulty police Choper before the deceased was mandated to undertake the unfortunate trip.
“We may never know what really caused the fatal crash, but we are hoping that the federal Government will carry out a full investigation on what actually happened that caused the crash of the Helicopter. We make this appeal not because we are directly concerned and affected, not because we are blaming anyone or group but we don’t expect any other family to go through what we are going through right now, and because this nation cannot afford to lose her illustrious sons and daughters in these bizarre circumstances”.
The Ambassador explained that the the DIG’s death has claimed the live of their beloved mother because she could not endure the shock and gave her ghost ten days after her son had died. He added that his two sisters who are now hospitalized are on danger list while the aged father is barely trying to cope.
“We will not wish even our worst enemies to go through such painful experience because life is a gift from God. No one has the right to take away another person’s life for whatever reason in this regard. DIG Haruna John died to ensure that people who have regards for life do not continue to perpetrate their evil acts”.
Ambassador Musa John pointed out that DIG Haruna John might still have been alive” if we all had chosen the path of dialogue and compromise but those who have chosen the path of violence to wreck havoc on the lives of innocent citizens should pause for a while and consider the peace enterprise”.
Speaking at the occasion the member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Jerry Mamwe representing the constituency of the late DIG in Taraba State said the House wanted to enquire about the causes that led to the death of the late DIG Haruna John but the Speaker of the House Hon Aminu Tambuwar assured him that the president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has wadded into the matter to unravel the circumstances that claimed the life of the officer.
