As the tenure of the Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda, gradually comes to an end, the governor on Tuesday approved the dissolution of the boards of 20 parastatals in the state, and sacked 33 Directors-General.
A press statement made available to journalists in Bauchi and signed by Hashimu Yakubu, Permanent Secretary (Political Affairs) on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), listed the affected parastatals as Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board; Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board; Sharia Consultative Council; Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC); Bauchi State Television (BATV); Bauchi State Development Board and Bauchi State Water Board.
Others affected were Bauchi State Library Board; Bauchi State Agriculture Supply Company (BASAC); Bauchi State Toyrism Board; Bauchi State environmental Protection Board (BASEPA); Bauchi State Hotels Board; Yankari Transport Corporation; Bauchi State Sports Council and Poverty Alleviation Agency.
Also affected by the dissolution were the boards of Bauchi Fertilizer Company; Bauchi Meat Factory; Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi; College of Education, Azare and A D Rufa’i College of Legal Islamic Studies, Misau.
The release further added that the governor also gave his approval for the disengagement of 33 Directors-General, all of whom were political appointees.
The governor also dissolved the Interim Supervisory Council and Interim Management Committee of Yankari Game Reserve.
The release stated that based on the dissolution of the interim council and interim management committee, “Consequently, the management of Yankari Game Reserve is to be reverted to the Ministry of Tourism and Culture immediately”.
The announcement followed the sacking of all his political aides to the governor on Monday.
The aides affected included were Special Advisers, with the exception of the Special Adviser, Due Process, all Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants.
