The Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Abdulrahman Kawu, has agreed to team up with the Kano State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, for the success of the party in the forthcoming election.
Mr. Kawu had been opposing the Senatorial candidacy of Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as well as governorship candidacy of Umar Ganduje after losing out in the party primaries.
The reconciliation came after the intervention of notable party leaders, who enjoined the warring parties to sheath their swords for the overall success of the party in the general elections.
While receiving the APC flag-bearer, Abdullahi Ganduje, and his running mate, Hafiz Abubakar, at his hometown in Sumaila, Mr. Kawu told his crowd of his supporters that all differences and hostilities existing between him and the governor have been laid to rest.
While presenting Mr. Ganduje before his supporters, Mr. Kawu said the reconciliation became imperative in view of the need for APC to record landslide victories in the elections.
In his remark, the Mr. Ganduje thanked the lawmaker for his decision to support him.
“This reconciliation is the last straw that broke the camel’s back. This reconciliation heralds our triumphant outing in the forthcoming elections,” he said, urging the party supporters to work for the success of the party at all levels.
Mr. Kawu, who is the political strongman in the Takai/Sumaila axis, had previously turned down several requests of the opposition parties in the state to either join them or work against the APC in the election.
But for this last minute reconciliation, it would have been difficult for the APC to record a victory in the Sumaila.
