The Nigeria Customs Service has promoted 2,065 of its officers following a directive from the Comptroller General of Customs, Dikko Abdullahi, that the results of the 2014 promotion exercise be released by the custom’s board in Abuja.
The comptroller general congratulated the newly-promoted officers and charged them to amplify their efforts to justify their promotions.
The promotion exercise, which featured a computer-based test and oral interview, were conducted at all customs formations in October and November 2014, the Spokesperson of customs, Wale Adeniyi said in a statement.
He said 48 Deputy Comptrollers were promoted to the rank of Comptroller, 81 Assistant- Comptrollers were promoted to Deputy Comptrollers while 112 Chief Superintendents of Customs were promoted to Assistant Comptrollers.
Others include, 32 superintendents of customs promoted to Chief Superintendents of customs, 121 Deputy Superintendents of customs promotes to superintendents of customs, 65 assistant superintendents of customs I to Deputy Superintendents of customs and 15 Assistant superintendents of Customs II to Superintendents of Customs I.
Mr. Adeniyi said a total number of 1, 591 officers benefitted in the inspectorate cadre, out of which 1, 493 are general duty officers while 98 others are support staff.
