June 21, 2012 // 0 Comments
As chairman of Education committee, Farouk Lawan, allegedly collected over N150 Million and other perks from the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education, UBEC, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Modibbo to shield him from being investigated for corruption in the education agency. Lawan was suspended as chairman of the adhoc committee that probed the subsidy regime because he allegedly received a $620,000 bribe from Zenon Oil boss, Femi Otedola. Lawan, is the House Committee Chairman on Education charged with the responsibility of overseeing the activities of UBEC and other Federal education agencies. Our hinted that Modibbo pays bribe monies to the Lawan led education committee. Modibbo’s wife, Aishatu, also a member of the education committee watches her husband’s back within the committee, ensures all bribe monies are delived as at when due. The Senate President, Senator David Mark, allegedly benefitted from the UBEC boss largesse. Sources close to the House committee on education told Pointblanknews.com that the UBEC boss has been jittery since news of the bribe-for-clearance scandal went viral. Pointblanknews gathered from members of the House committee on education that Lawan was the pointsman for the UBEC boss in the National Assembly. Apart from ensuring that Modibbo was never summoned by the House and Senate committees on education to answer questions on the billions of Naira being stolen in UBEC by its officials, particularly Modibbo and his lover of many years-turned wife, Aishatu. Interestingly, Aishat, it was learnt, has used her several companies to skim billions of Naira off UBEC.They include Binani Nigeria Ltd, Ojunwa Nigeria Limited, Infinity Telecoms and Al-Malal Ltd. Aishatu, through Modibbo, allegedly stole billions of Naira at UBEC and National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, where her husband was Director. Through Lawan, Modibbo was able to warm his way to the chairman of the Senate committee on education, even getting very close to Senate President David Mark. Pointblanknews.com gathered that With Modibbo close to Mark, every petition on the fraudulent UBEC boss to the Presidency or the National Assembly, never saw the light of the day. The UBEC boss was said to have supported Mark’s re-election campaign with 50 motorcycles and a yet-to-be determined amount of cash. With Mark shielding Modibbo, it wasn’t difficult for the UBEC boss to repay by obliging tonnes of requests from the Senate President for applicants from him seeking employment in UBEC.
